Special Victim's Unit

Ogden Police Department Domestic Violence Investigators


The Special Victim's Unit has specialized trained investigators. The investigators conduct follow-up investigations into domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault calls for service. The Unit is comprised of a sergeant, 5 detectives, and a city attorney victim advocate. The Unit works diligently to curb the problem of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault by investigating and preparing cases against persons responsible for these crimes.

In addition to the investigative duties, the Unit is involved in training and community education related to proper techniques and investigative procedure. Detectives from the Unit regularly provide training to other police agencies by sponsoring seminars on domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault and presenting in-service classes for area police officers on their responsibilities while handling a call for service, in these areas.

Community Involvement


The Special Victim's Unit actively works to prevent domestic violence and child abuse through its association with community groups. The Unit is also involved in community education programs related to various topics and participates in workshops and conferences aimed at broadening public awareness of the tragedy of this type of crime. The Unit is closely associated with organizations which deal directly with victims of crimes.
